IBM’s legendary Model M turns 40 this year.
A 40 Year old Keyboard!
Another ‘in depth’ article from Reece Bithrey this time celebrating 40 years of the IBM Model M.
Many of us elder nerds will remember them as our first keyboard, and like a first love, one always maintains a fond spot for the feel of our first Keyboard.
A true Icon for the Keyboard Geek the Model M holds the title of the most clicky keyboard ever made. The Buckling Spring Switch Technology in them is almost worth an article in itself, they sure are clicky.
In the article Reece documents the story of an iconic keyboard from IBM to Lexmark (IN Scotland!) and eventually to Unicomp in Kentucky USA. Even interviewing Don Bowman who was there for the entire journey. A most enjoyable, informative read.
Thank You Reece. Anyone out there remember using one of these classics?
